Today, Thursday, October 19, we commemorate the International Day to fight Breast Cancer, a disease that affects a large part of the female population worldwide, and where it is crucial to promote that more and more women can access effective diagnoses, controls and treatments in order to detect any sign or anomaly.
Like every year at Reysan Atlantic, we want to contribute to this charitable cause by donating 3% of all sales made during this day to research in search of new ways to prevent , diagnose and treat Breast Cancer.
We would also like to send a message of support and strength to all women fighting this disease so that they do not give up. We must emphasize The importance of Breast Cancer prevention is key and can be done through self-examination, periodic examinations and diagnostic tests.
Breast Cancer Data in Spain
- During 2023, it is estimated that there will be 35,001 new cases of breast cancer in Spain, according to data from the Spanish Society of Medical Oncology (SEOM).
- Breast cancer is the most common type of tumor among women in Spain (approximately 30% of all cancers).
- The estimated chance of a woman developing breast cancer is 1 in 8.
- Breast cancer tends to manifest between the ages of 35 and 80, being more common in the age group of 45 to 65 years due to hormonal changes in the peri- and postmenopause periods.
- Breast Cancer detected at the beginning reduces the probability of death by 25%.
Symptoms and Signs of Breast Cancer
It is essential to be attentive to the signs and symptoms of Breast Cancer, since an early diagnosis can make a difference:
- Notice a palpable lump or thickening in the breast or under the arm.
- Changes in the size or shape of the breast.
- Discharge from the nipple that occurs suddenly.
- Skin irritation such as roughness.
- Swelling or redness of the breasts.
